Prior to co-founding Five Pillars, he was the head of strategic development at Al Ghussein Global Investments, a leading investment firm based in the United Arab Emirates. During his time at AGI he was the architect behind the West Coast Customs Middle East venture, negotiating the exclusive 20 year GCC deal, funding and establishing the largest production facility outside the United States. Furthermore, he launched Suomi which has become the exclusive Nokia mobile media partner for the Gulf market.

He launched Octane (lifestyle service center) in 2006, and contributed to bringing the Hamley’s franchise to Dubai. Prior to AGI, he founded Magna Media in 1999 which grew to the 3rd largest independent media agency in Dubai. Some of the agency's clients included: Samsung, Microsoft, Nissan, Adidas, Dubai Police, The Executive Office (His Highness Sheikh Mohammed's office), ADNOC, Bentley and Dubai Chamber of Commerce. In 2006, he sold the company to a private equity firm in the UAE.

Prior to Magna Media he founded an award winning digital media company in Canada. In 1998 his firm won the MIM golden award for best web solution of that year. Rami El Malak holds a Bachelor of Commerce, from McGill University, in Canada and a degree in Digital Media. He is fluent in English, French and Arabic.
