Design and Master Planning

ATHLONE GROUP’s mission when assisting in the design and planning of all roadway and bridge construction is to assure that the process is simple and concise with the wishes of the client to be the central objective.

By working closely with the client’s approving body, ATHLONE is able to present multiple scenarios based upon the goal of the client. Each project presents a different set of challenges.

Clearing, Excavation, and Grading of Bridge

All land preparations are done during this phase. Removal of trees, rock, and any other object in the planned location of the bridge occur

The ground is graded and leveled in preparation for excavating the bracing.

Large support pylons are driven to present a foundation.

Installation of Pylons of Bridge

The base plyons are now driven to the hard layer below in order to provide the base of the bridge.

Depending on the soil and ground surrounding the bridge, the fill medium is now chosen to anchor the pylons.

These plyons are now covered with the chosen medium to provide added support and aesthetic enhancement.

Horizontal Pour of Bridge Base and Top Layer

After the pylons are set and secured the “top” of the bridge is set in steel and concrete forms.

The roadway portion of the bridge is poured into the forms so that when it is set and hardens, the result is the final roadway.

This is also when the side supports and safety walls are poured.

Striping of the Lanes and Safety Barriers

Once the bridge has been completed, the final touches are the striping occurs.

This is also the point that the safety barriers are installed and the final inspection occurs.
